I have a peugeot Metal X moped, why does the bike engine cut out when I put the side stand on?

I have just had an engine re-build and since putting the engine back on a spark is coming from where the stand meets the underside of the bike, when the stand is taken down the engine cuts out and won't start again until the stand is touching.

Means you have a short in the frame, and are running a circuit thru there rather than the wiring they are supposed to work thru.
