can some one help me ?my desk top is locked on the with windows logo on?

but the colours are sort of faded and the round things that tells you its opening is stuck with about 3 spots along and 3 spots are just there im running xp ive tried turning it of at the power also ctrl alt delete but nothing works

Hold the power button for several seconds or in the worst case switch off at the mains.

If it fails to boot again, check the fans are spinning freely and not clogged with fluff or whatever, all the heatsinks secure etc.

If its got warranty call the suppliers

If it continues to fail then could be

Screwed OS, try safe mode boot, system restore etc.

Bad ram, if you got more than 1 stick, take it down to 1 and try them in turn to see if you can identify a bad one.

Bad/failing HDD, fit a new one and re-install windows, then connect the old drive as a slave and try to copy your data off.

failing Mobo or processor, ouch!
